Sakkiz qatorli oktava (musammat)
o‘zbek she’riyatining yangi shakli emas. ning muxlislari
she’r biladiki, she’rning lirik shakli,
har biri sakkiz baytdan iborat bo‘lgan
O‘zbek she’riyati uzoq vaqtdan beri va deyiladi
musammat. "Musammat" so'zi arabcha
va "qimmatli" va "sakkiz" ma'nosida ishlatiladi,
‘sakkiz tomon, sakkiz qirra, sakkiz qism, sakkiz
chiziqlar" va hatto "sakkiz burchak". Binobarin,
asosida uning asl ma’nosi ochiladi
"sakkiz" raqami.
